A former Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, Mr. Shunglu has held several prestigious positions in the Government of India during his distinguished career in the Indian Administrative Service. His expertise in governance, public finance, and institutional management has earned him widespread respect both nationally and internationally.
Mr. V. K. Shunglu's distinguished career has been recognized through several prestigious national and international honours that reflect his exceptional contributions to public administration, governance, education, and accountability. In 2019, he was conferred the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award, by the President of India in recognition of his outstanding service to the nation and his exemplary contributions to the Civil Services. In 2026, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Times of India National CSR Summit, presented by the Vice-President of India, acknowledging his lifelong leadership, vision, and enduring impact on governance, education, and institutional excellence. Earlier, in 1998, he was honoured with the prestigious John Kandutsch Award by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) for his remarkable achievements and significant contributions to the field of state auditing and public financial accountability. Following his distinguished tenure in public service, Mr. Shunglu has continued to contribute meaningfully to nation-building through his leadership in education. As the Chairman of the Delhi Public School Society, he has been instrumental in strengthening one of India's most respected educational institutions.
