Mr. B. K. Chaturvedi is a distinguished figure whose name resonates with excellence and a lifetime of dedicated service to the nation. A luminary in the realm of Indian bureaucracy, he has left an indelible mark on the landscape of governance through his unwavering commitment, visionary leadership, and an illustrious career that spans decades.
He is a former Cabinet Secretary in the Indian Civil Servant and had been awarded with 'PADMA BHUSHAN' in the year 2010, for his contribution in the field of civil services. In recognition of his work in the field of Public Administration, Shri Chaturvedi was conferred with Honoris Causa (D.Sc.) by Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad (Jharkhand) on 5th April, 2012.
Before joining the IAS, Chaturvedi was a professor of physics at the Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College, Allahabad.
He has served as Member of the 'Planning Commission' in the Government of India. He has also been a Member in the 'Thirteenth Finance Commission' in November 2007. As Cabinet Secretary, he was also Member of the Atomic Energy Commission and Space Commission of India. Shri Chaturvedi has written several papers in the field of public administration and governance. He has travelled extensively and represented India in international fora, including Boards of UNICEF and UNDP.
